Resources

Post by DarthAce21 »

There are three key resources that the player can gather and store at each of their nests.
FOOD, WATER, and HEAT.

Each nest tile (see Nest Tiles) has a unique quantity of each of these three resources available, and each resource can also be affected locally or globally by seasons and also by random events (disasters, for example). Although nest tiles have a generally predetermined amount of each of these three resources, they vary slightly from tile to tile, making each tile completely unique but within a general tendency.

The resources are collected PER NEST by a combination of nest location (the value of the tile where the nest is built), the Forage Area size, Forage Efficiency development, Worker Ants assigned to the forage area, as well as SEASONAL CHANGES and Random Events. A player's overall colony resources will depend on the collection rate and maximum storage capacity of each nest, added together.

So any one nest can collect resources at a certain rate, store these resources up to their maximum storage capacity, and consume resources depending on their development, structure, worker, and army spending. A player's total colony resources are a sum total of this income and expenditure at each nest location within their overall colony.
If you stand for nothing, you fall for anything.

WATER

Water is one of three collectable resources. Water is consumed by standing army and workers, and is also spent when making new DEVELOPMENTS or COLONY STRUCTURES.

If your water runs out, your ants (both Soldiers and Workers) will die very quickly.

HEAT

Heat is a little different to the other resources FOOD and WATER, in that it cannot be stored, only collected. Heat is collected by Workers that are specifically assigned to the Worker Action of Sunbathe. This action is only required if the heat within the nest is running very low (for example it is WINTER, or a Random Event has caused it to become cold).

When Heat runs low, processes in the nest slow down. To keep things moving at maximum efficiency, it's important to keep Heat in the nest at optimum levels. Heat cannot ever become too high, as your Workers will simply stay inside the nest when they overheat. Keeping a balance of Workers on Sunbathe duty is important in colder seasons or during random events, but is generally not required. It does, however, occupy a player's Workers, and therefore reduces their ability to do other Worker Actions, such as Forage or Raid.
